Extremely funny and very English.
_____
Bridget Jones is a single secretary. That is, until she gets a relationship with her boss, a known womanizer. They break up, but her boss wants her back, and meanwhile Bridget fancies a stuck-up lawyer called Mark Darcy.

This movie may not be great in the technical sense: it doesn't have great special effects, the story isn't very realistic and it is certainly not a revolutionary film. It does, however, do a great job in terms of entertainment. The acting is very realistic (as far as it can be, with a story like this), especially the character of Bridget Jones. In fact, every movie I've watched with Renée Zellweger is ruined for me, because I keep seeing Bridget Jones. The story is funny in a very British way: clever jokes, that one could make in real life.
I think it's a modern classic in the comedy section.

Shazzer: Fuck 'em. Fuck the lot of 'em. Tell 'em they can stick fucking Leevis up their fucking asses.
Bridget: [narrating] Shazzer. Journalist. Likes to say "fuck."
