Halloween

Vampires, ghosts, zombies: PURE AWESOME!
I love Halloween, I love dressing up, I love monsters, I love candy, so this is my time of the year! Well, you'd think that, but unfortunately here in Holland we don't celebrate it. I have no idea why, because I really see no bad side to acting weird and getting free candy for it, but alas, the truth is that still a lot of the Dutchies think that Halloween is stupid. Nevertheless, a few suggestions for awesome costumes:

1. Ezio (do you write it like that? Ezzio? Edzio? I don't know and I'm too lazy to look it up.)
2. Derpy Hooves
3. The March Hare
4. A giant eyeball
5. A Silent
6. Why not a Zoidberg costume?
7. A Trollface
8. A huge cupcake
9. An evil, psychopathic lady bug
10. A plate of spaghetti

Funky Zine

For a while I have been thinking about bringing a new dimension to FGF, and today I kind of worked out what it should be like: A FunkyGreenFishie Zine. Let me explain what a Zine is like:
It's like a magazine, but awesome. It doesn't give a flying f#ck about target audiences, budgets or good writing. It is all about the joy of creating something and sharing it with the world.
Now, since I'm not the most artistic person in this world (heavy understatement), I need people who can write, draw, handle computers or anything of that kind.
If you're interested in this, write to FunkyGreenFishie@hotmail.com
You don't need a resume, 'cause we don't have one either. Just tell what you want to do and why you're the best person to do this.

-HipsterForce

N.B.
We only do zines in Dutch. If you want to work with us but you want the zines to be in your language as well, you've got to translate them yourself, unless your language is English.

Despicable Me Review

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND another review! 'Cause that's how I roll bro! Kind of dodgy innit, two reviews on one day?

IMDb Rating: 7.5
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 81% Rated Fresh
Notable Cast/Crewmembers: Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Julie Andrews, Russell Brand
Genre: Animation

To be honest, I had expected more of this movie. It was never really funny, the story was a bit predictable and the animation was just normal. However, it was nice to watch, and even though it's predictable, the story is more original than most of the other stories in children's animation *cough* Dreamworks *cough*

SPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERS

A villain, Gru, has to prove that he is a really bad supervillain. So, he decides to steal the moon. To accomplish this, he has to steal a shrinking machine. Too bad the other supervillain has stolen it before him, and locked away in his high-tech security home. Gru then chooses to adopt three orphan girls to break into his house. You can probably guess what happens next (HINT: There is an epic dance scene at the end)

Wallace And Gromit In The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit Review

IMDb Rating: 7.8
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 95% Rated Fresh
Notable Cast/Crewmembers: Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes
Genre: Clay Animation

I, personally love this movie. I have watched it today for at least the fourth time, and every time there are new jokes or references to discover. Also, stop-motions films are always great because of the effort it takes to make it: With "normal" movies, you can just redo a scene if you think a different prop fits better on the other side of the screen. If you do this with stop-motion, you may be ruining weeks of work, so everything is thought out extremely well.
Let me plot the movie for you:

SPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERS!

Wallace, an inventor and his faithful dog Gromit have little buisiness called Anti-Pesto, which, as you can see in the name, clears pests of rabbits humanely. They get a huge order from the lovely Lady Tottington and her fiancé (at least, he wants to be her fiancé to get to da moneys) to rid her whole garden of rabbits. After this, Wallace decides that because they don't have enough room to store the rabbits, he should send anti-veggie brainwaves to their brains, so he can release them again without them harming the vegetables that are meant for the big vegetable show. However, something goes terribly wrong and Wallace is stuck with being a giant rabbit every time at full moon. What happens next, you'll have to see for yourself. Or read it on Wikipedia, but that is a lot less fun.

Sixty Six Review

From this point on, I will try to review every movie I see, so I'll just start with the first one, Sixty Six.

Genre: Comedy
IMDb rating: 6.6 (What a great coincidence!)
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 65% rated Fresh.
Notable Cast/Crewmembers: Helena Bonham Carter, Catherine Tate, Richard Curtis.

I just finished watching it and to be quite honest, it was exactly as good as I had expected it to be. Which is really f*cking awesome.

SPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERSSPOILERS!

The story is about a jewish boy (Bernie Rubens, played by Gregg Sulkin) who is about to have his bar mitzvah. Even though he has always been overshadowed by his brother and neglected by his parents who worry about the family business, he hopes to have the best bar mitzvah ever. That is, until England makes it to the World Cup Final, which happens to be on the same day as Bernie's bar mitzvah. After that, things only get worse for Bernie: the family loses all their money in a fire, his guests refuse to come to the party because of the World Cup Final and on the big day nobody really listens to Bernie. After he has run off, his parents realise they should've paid more attention to him, and his father takes him to see the last part of the football match, which England wins. The film ends with a shot of Bernie embracing his father while talking about how a bar mitzvah isn't important because of all the guests and the glamour and the presents, but because of the realisation that your parents are only human, and always try to make you feel happy.

I really enjoyed this, not only because of the superb acting and the great cast, but because this is such a simple story. It's not a real comedy, not a dramatic tearjerker, but just a story about a boy who feels neglected. It has a feeling a la Love Actually (which is not weird because they are both produced by Richard Curtis) but without the overly sentimental moments. A great film for everybody.

Sci-Fi Roflrazzi

As you've seen in the previous posts, I'm incredibly dedicated to the Cheezburger/Memebase/Failblog community. That's why I'm glad that, two days ago, I heard that there would be a "spin-off" of Roflrazzi! I don't know the name yet, but I know that it's like Roflrazzi* but sci-fi! Now, I'm not a particular fan of sci-fi, (I enjoy it, but it's not my favourite genre) but fortunately it was announced that with sci-fi, they also mean Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter. If this is going to be true, I may never get off the internet again.

-HipsterForce

*And Roflrazzi is basically just captioned pictures of celebrities.

Dafuq...

So, apparently, Blogger doesn't want me to post links. You'll just have to copy-paste this then:
